Regulation
Art. 1 1. This Regulation lays down rules relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and rules relating to the free movement of personal data. 2. This Regulation protects fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons and in particular their right to the protection of personal data. 3. The free movement of personal data within the Union shall be neither restricted nor prohibited for reasons connected with the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data. |
Directive
Art. 1. 1. In accordance with this Directive, Member States shall protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons, and in particular their right to privacy with respect to the processing of personal data. 2. Member States shall neither restrict nor prohibit the free flow of personal data between Member States for reasons connected with the protection afforded under paragraph 1. |

Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria [...] Article 32. (1) Personal life of citizens shall be inviolable. Everyone shall have the right to protection against illegal interference in their personal and family life, and against encroachment on their honor, dignity and reputation. (2) No one can be followed, photographed, filmed, recorded or subjected to other similar actions without their knowledge or despite their express disagreement save in cases envisaged by legislative statute. [...] Article 34. (1) Freedom and secrecy of correspondence shall be inviolable. (2) Exceptions of this rule shall be allowed only upon a permission issued by a judicial authority in cases where this is necessary for investigation or prevention of serious criminal offences.
Personal Data Protection Act Article 1. (Last Amendment - SG No. 81/2011) (1) This Act regulates the protection of rights of individuals with regard to the processing of their personal data. (2) The purpose of this Act is to guarantee the inviolability of personality and personal life by ensuring protection of individuals in case of unauthorised processing of personal data related to them in the process of free movement of data.
